I have been volunteering since last year - October and it has changed my life a lot! I have learnt from the Little People so much! I've learned how to be understanding and listen to needy people, I've learned a lot about kids and how to interact with them, I've learned that helping others means helping yourself too and most important how to actually act like a decent human being. I've also had much fun and met special people, strong teenagers that taught me something new everyday. I consider volunteering part of my lifestyle and surely one of the best accomplishments in my life!

I am involved in many projects but the main one is the oncology project at the ONCO2 ward. I've first started to go once a week, but now I'm going 2 times a week because I help unexperienced volunteers to adapt. Visiting the ward is one of the most beautiful things that life has offered me and has given me the chance to meet wonderful kids who really need our love & support. As I learned on the ward cancer CAN be beaten and these kids prove us every day. I find this poem inspirational and I'd like to share it with everyone :  

                                                       

                                                          Cancer is so limited that:

                                                            It cannot cripple love,

                                                           It cannot shatter hope,

                                                           It cannot corrode faith,

                                                           It cannot destroy peace,

                                                           It cannot kill friendship,

                                                          It cannot invade the soul,

                                                          It cannot silence courage,

                                                         It cannot steal eternal life,

                                                         It cannot conquer the spirit,    

                                                        It cannot suppress memories!
